The Antioch Bird Club (ABC) was created in 2016 to share a passion for birds and their habitats among Antioch students, faculty, and staff. This enthusiasm is shared via birding walks, as well as birding and ornithological events and workshops. Please see below for a list of events!

Upcoming Events

Hike and Hawkwatch at Pack Monadnock

Saturday, October 26, 2024, 9 AM - 3 PM

Meet: Miller State Park lower lot @ 9AM (GPS directions)

We will hike up to the summit where we will spend several hours hawkwatching before heading back down. Pack a lunch and plenty of fluids! Foliage should be about peak for our moderately steep, 1.4-mile hike up the Marion Davis Trail and return via the more gradual Wapack Trail. Alternatively, participants can drive up and meet us at the hawkwatch around 10:30. A trail map for the State Park can be found here. There is a $4 per person fee for entering the park, and reservations are recommended if driving to the summit.

Clubmoss Workshop at Distant Hill Gardens

Meet: Distant Hill Gardens, Walpole (GPS directions)

Join clubmoss enthusiasts Michael Nerrie and Nate Marchessault for an intro on what clubmosses are and a rapid-fire workshop on how to identify the less than 10 species of clubmoss in our area. The workshop will feature collected specimens, followed by a short walk to see these plants in their natural habitats. After it's over, you'll be an expert on clubmoss ID!
